Guide to Social Media

Networking without leaving your office.

We all know the importance of networking and yet most business owners I know are still not utilizing the easiest form of networking, social networking. Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are all easy to use and not as time consuming as you think. You can automate posts with Networked Blogs, post your Tweets to Facebook or Tweets within LinkedIn, post from your phone or use HootSuite to manage them all.

Facebook
Businesses need a business page, not a group. To set up a business page in Facebook go to any business page and in the upper right corner click “Create a Page”. After you have configured your page invite your contacts to “Like” your page. To maximize impact, use a Facebook landing page to encourage visitors to “Like” the page, sign up for your mailing list or direct them to specific pages of your website. We can build this page for you. Click here to find out more about our Facebook landing page design service.

Twitter
Twitter is not interactive but I have found that you can get followers without having to pursue them. You start out following others that Tweet about your interests and then their followers find you and follow you. The more interesting your tweets the more followers you will get. You do not have to return the follow. Pick and choose quality People/Companies to follow and reTweet their posts, post your own, and be interesting, be original.

Be careful not to overly promote your business. Doing so will only result in people tuning you out. Just like in real world networking, share information. Educate, inform, recommend, and then promote.

Both Twitter and Facebook can be configured with your branding. Contact us to have your social networks branded to put your best foot forward.

Why we are now building sites with WordPress.

A few short years ago, every feature of a website had to be manually created. This was costly and not easy to maintain. More and more I was asked to build sites with content management. I did the research and found that WordPress was the easiest for the client to learn how to use and I liked that the search engines responded well to the new site. After all, that’s what it’s all about.

WordPress uses themes to give a site the look and feel. I create a custom theme for your website. A theme that is unique to you and your business. I add plugins depending on how you want your site to function. After the site is finished you can maintain your site with little training. It’s a simple way for YOU to be in control of your website.
