This is the family of Richard and his wife Mary (Chalders) Clifton. Pioneers of Eldorado County, California, USA where they went in search of gold in 1850. Richard was born in 1814 in Camborne, son of Richard. (Photo was taken from a newspaper many years ago.)

The children are: Minnie, Mary, John, Richard, Jane, Thomas, William. Mother Mary is pictured on the bottom row third from left, her husband was deceased at this time.

Elizabeth Ann (Clifton) Tomen, born 23 Mar. 1873 in Beacon, Cornwall, first child of John Henry Clifton and Elizabeth Ann (Oliver) Clifton, died 14 Jan. 1940 in Germantown, Phila., PA., wife of Louis Tomen, born 10 Mar. 1870 in Germany, died 11 Apr. 1947 in Germantown, Phila., PA. Louis and Elizabeth Ann had five daughters: Ann, Ethel May, Sophia, Isabel and Mabel.
